Snorkel Trip

Iguana and Snorkel Trip

Visit Little Water Cay, home of the Rock Iguanas to discover these shy and harmless reptiles, followed by a cooling dip in the turquoise waters to discover the colorful flora and fauna beneath the Turks and Caicos. This protected island is home to the only remaining Turks and Caicos Rock Iguana population in the world. A boardwalk allows visitors the opportunity to experience the habitat of the iguana without disturbing their natural environment. Guided tours are provided and visitors are encouraged to take photos.

Sand Dollar Beach and Snorkel

Explore the pristine shallow waters off Pine Cay on the hunt for sand dollars and other seashells. These quiet, crystal-clear waters provide a safe and fun playground for couples and families alike. Iguana Island and Sand Dollar Snorkel

Embark on this adventure encompassing three highlights of the Turks and Caicos Islands – beachcombing, wildlife watching and snorkeling. Start the day with a visit to the indigenous Rock Iguanas on the aptly named Iguana Island before hopping over to Sand Dollar Island to hunt for seashells and perhaps enjoy a cooling swim. Round the trip off by snorkeling one of the area’s pristine reefs to observe life in the underwater world.

Private Charters are available to the guest who desires the intimacy and freedom of hiring their own vessel. Several boat sizes/styles are available that can comfortably accommodate between two and eight people. A wide range of activities including snorkeling, private island drop-offs, tubing, waterskiing, beach picnics and more are on offer. Please discuss your plans with Guest Services at the time of booking.

SCUBA Diving

Rated as one of the top ten-dive destinations in the world, the Turks and Caicos Islands are a haven for experienced as well as novice divers. Explore the vibrant coral reefs and encounter the underwater marine life with a dedicated team of professional dive instructors and dive masters.

Diving is available from Providenciales with Big Blue Unlimited, conveniently located at Leeward Marina. Parrot Cay will arrange for a complimentary boat to Provo, where a member from the dive shop will meet you at the dock with arrangements for your day. Once your dive is completed, the next available guest boat will return you to Parrot Cay. Private diving charters are also available for guest pickup at Parrot Cay.

Sailing, Windsurfing and Kayaking

A range of Catamarans, windsurfers and kayaks are available on a complimentary basis at the Water Sports tiki hut on the main beach. The recreation team provides complimentary instruction to even the most inexperienced beachgoers so that everyone may enjoy these crafts safely.

For a one-to-one learning experience, Parrot Cay offers private one-hour sailing and windsurfing instruction, where you’ll learn the basics on dry land before setting sail with confidence.

Windsurfing or sailing lesson (1 hour): $60 per person

For the slightly more experienced sailor, two trips are offered, which both take about two hours each (depending on wind and tide) and include mineral water, soft drinks of your choice and a light snack on a deserted beach.

Sailing excursions (2 hours): $100 per Hobie Cat – 2 people max

Tennis

Our two Omni surface tennis courts are available on a complimentary basis. Contact Guest Services for equipment, night play and/or a tennis partner (if required). Reservations are not required and courts are on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you are looking to improve your game, a ball machine is available for rent on an hourly basis. The Playmate Ace is the perfect companion for a beginner trying to improve his or her skills or for an advanced player looking for a good workout.

Bottom Reef Fishing

Take a cruise to our offshore reef and experience what island fishing is all about. A local guide will choose the best area depending on tide and wind direction and fishing migration. Tours are fully outfitted with gear. Can accommodate up to three guests.

Bonefishing

The Turks and Caicos Islands are famous for their bonefish. These small but extremely powerful and fast fish will test your skills as a fisherman. A private bonefishing company in Providenciales offers expeditions that can be booked through Guest Services. Both full-day and half-day charters are available. Pricing varies.

For the more experienced or lone fisherman, the back side of Parrot Cay is an ideal flats fishing area with shallow waters and mangrove borders – a proven spot for bonefish. Guest Services can arrange for a complimentary kayak at the guest dock for use in the backwaters. Fishing gear can be supplied for an additional fee (fly rods are not available).

Deep Sea Fishing

The unique position of the islands offers sport anglers water as deep as 3000 feet at the drop-off, only minutes from the resort. Let Parrot Cay’s guest services team find the right captain and boat for your charter. Both full-day and half-day charters are available through off-property charters. Pricing varies. Depending on availability, pick-up for deep-sea charters may be possible at Parrot Cay. Otherwise, a transfer to Providenciales will be required.

ISLAND ECO-ADVENTURES

The proximity of North Caicos and Middle Caicos to Parrot Cay gives guests to the island an ideal opportunity to explore a different side of the Turks and Caicos. North Caicos boasts a very different style and atmosphere. With a resident population of only 1500, it is a relaxing and intriguing island to visit. Middle Caicos is the largest island in the chain and has a population of only 300. The island boasts incredible beaches, a varied coastline and an extensive cave system. Guests can join a guided eco-adventure or customize a private day trip to suit their needs and interests.

Private eco-adventures are arranged to explore the large and sparsely populated islands of North and Middle Caicos. You cannot see or do everything in a single day, so choose from the following list of activities and interests. Big Blue Unlimited will customize a half- or full-day adventure to suit your appetite. Approximate times recommended for activities are shown in brackets, but do not include travel time.

Historical walk around Wades Green cotton plantation, North Caicos (1 hour)

These activities are available in addition to the scenic drive that takes you across the islands. Short stops are made to admire the views, meet with local people, and generally soak up the culture and island atmosphere. For example, your guide may take you to places such as Cottage Pond, a 250-foot sink hole; Flamingo Pond Nature Reserve; the villages of Bottle Creek, Bambarra and Lorimers; or to a local handcraft co-op on Middle Caicos. Big Blue’s eco-tour guides are primarily from the Caicos Islands and will introduce you to their home and people. With such easy access from Parrot Cay, you do not want to miss the opportunity to explore these varied and beautiful islands.

Heart of the Islands Eco-Tour

This small-group eco-tour offered by Big Blue Unlimited is scheduled several times each week and encompasses the cultural and scenic “Heart of the Caicos Islands.” With a maximum of nine guests, experience the relaxed pass and underpopulated vibe of two of the largest islands in the chain. Walk around an 18th-century cotton plantation on North Caicos and learn about the early history of the islands. Enjoy a native lunch at the home of a local matriarch in the nearby village of Kew and head off to the Flamingo Pond Nature Reserve to view the national bird. The afternoon is spent exploring Middle Caicos, including extensive limestone caves, a local handcraft co-op and the beautiful beach and cliffs at Mudjin Harbour. Bring your swimmers and walking shoes. The eco-tour runs from approximately 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.

Kayak Eco-Tour

Take the Parrot Cay ferry to Providenciales and join this classic 3- to 4-hour eco-tour in the Princess Alexandra Nature Reserve. Explore serene mangrove channels to view marine and bird-life. Visit the Iguana Sanctuary on Little Water Cay. Swim at a beautiful beach. Single and tandem kayaks are available, and beginners are welcome. Private, time-flexible eco-tours are available.
